"With so much to choose from, a home- owner who becomes overwhelmed trying to create harmony in their in- terior space may want to call a pro- fessional for help." Minimalist and industrial have been the most popular lighng styles this year, according to Richard Frierson of Absolute AV Consulng. Some industry experts say mid century modern may step aside in 2019 to make way for more Art Deco. The 1920's and '30's Art Deco period was one of the most glam- orous and lavish periods in history. Unlike the clean, minimal lines of mid-century modern decor, it em- braces intricate details on tables and chairs. And mixed metals are not just allowed, but celebrated. Art Deco furniture features sculptural lines, whether they are curving or geometric. Paerned pieces, like rugs, wallpaper, and up- holstery, echo iconic geometric de- signs from the Art Deco period. Overhead Art Deco fixtures will draw the eye and give a focal point to any room. Hugh Cobb of Cobb Home Inno- vaons reports his clients favor Art Deco. He adds that lighng fixtures in 2019 are leaning toward lighter shades. Nong that he's seeing more chrome and polished brass fixtures is David Thrash of Core Properes. "Lighng is more adjustable, flexi- ble, and energy efficient, leading to designs previously impossible to manufacture," he says. Jones agrees that homeowners tend to overlook lamps in their lighng design. "Ceiling fixtures are not the be-all, end-all.
