In May, the Gary Sinise Founda•on gi-ed the Linfoot family a new, specially adapted smart home. The modern, transforma•ve home improves Linfoot's daily life by simplifying everyday tasks and ul•mately helping him regain independ- ence. CW5 Linfoot enlisted in the Army Reserve following his grad- ua•on from high shool. A-er at- tending Flight School, he joined the Army's elite 160th Special Opera•ons Avia•on Regiment (Airborne). In May of 2008, while conduc•ng opera•ons in Iraq, CW5 Linfoot's helicopter suffered a catastrophic mechani- cal failure. The helicopter crash- landed, resul•ng in a broken back that paralyzed Linfoot from the waist down. Gary and his wife Mari have raised three children over their 26-year-marriage, and with lim- itless posi•vity and a mo•o of 'never quit,' together they have overcome every obstacle. Thanks to technology, Lin- foot, wearing a exoskeleton suit, was able to walk his oldest Smart Home benefits veteran
