The tour benefits local nonprofit or- ganiza-ons. Presented by the Master Custom Builders Council (MCBC)of TN , the tour includes homes built for cus- tomers at a substan-al savings and are fully furnished. One -cket in- cludes two long weekends visitors can sample home styles, loca-ons, builders, architects, designers, and more according to Bryan Edwards, president of Hughes-Edwards Builders and tour chairman. "If you are considering building or even pain-ng a room, you'll want to check out this interes-ng variety of styles from modern Spanish to French country," Edwards says. "There are also a ton of new building products like an automated terrace screening system and great examples of popu- lar outdoor living spaces." Outdoor living areas are s-ll a top priority for homeowners. Located in the Richland Woods neighborhood, builder Rork Thomas's clients have decked out their outdoor living area with mul-ple entertaining spots for family and friends. The soaring cathedral porch ceiling reflects the home's interior great room and it is finished out with a flagstone floor and gorgeous stacked stone fire- place. All the tour homes have their own twist on outdoor living. North of Nashville, builder McPherson-Shaw's waterfront Fairvue Planta-on home premiers an auto- mated screened terrace with seven motorized screens for bug season or retracted for a full view of beau-ful Old Hickory Lake. Bob Shaw, presi- dent of McPher- son-Shaw, is also president of the MCBC of TN. Also in the Fairvue Planta-on neighborhood, Arthur Rutenberg builder Steve Ernst's European i nspired home achieves a seamless flow into the outdoors with disap- pearing glass pocket doors opening the great room into the deep cov- e red back lanai. Green elements are customer driven and always important op-ons offered by MCBC builders. Kingdom B uilders' exquisite French Country 7,000+ square foot home on Cages Bend Court in Galla-n has spray foam insula-on and two tankless hot water u nits with a recircula-ng pump. Green-friendly bamboo floors, a geo- thermal HVAC system, and foam insu- la-on are also seen in McPherson-Shaw's west Nashville home, designed by top Nashville ar- chitect, Manuel Zeitlin. Open kitchen plans con-nue to weave family fun into the cook's do- main. W. Hugh Nelson Builders's Charlestonian Georgian home in Belle Meade features a large island with beau-ful Calcu.a marble, a wooden beamed ceiling, and pea- cock flooring opening to a screened porch with shiplap walls. Master building is seen through- out the tour including the American Country home built by Walsh Cus- tom Homes in the popular and sce- nic Co.on Lane area of Franklin. Elegant touches include an impres- sive curved staircase and examples of fine custom cabinetry. The Sco. Wilson-designed home also features unusual -led floors and shower; be o n the lookout for a secret door in the boys' bedroom leading to a hid- den playroom. And, in case you are wondering, w here is the Irish pub? The Rose family, who are great lovers of all things Ireland, have incorporated a small pub area into the game room o f its Fairvue Planta-on Galla-n home built by McPherson-Shaw. The pub is complete with a beer tap and Irish mo.oes carved into the wood c abinetry featuring Irish knot trim.
